Falls are the leading cause of construction site accidents, often due to improper use of fall protection, unsafe ladders, or unprotected edges. Proper training, equipment, and consistent inspections are key to preventing them.

OSHA requires fall protection at 6 feet or more above a lower level in construction. This includes guardrails, safety nets, or personal fall arrest systems such as harnesses and SRLs.

Safety audits identify hazards before they cause accidents, ensure OSHA compliance, and improve overall jobsite efficiency. They also demonstrate a company’s commitment to protecting workers and reducing liability.

Workers should stop work if necessary and immediately report hazards to a supervisor or safety manager. Prompt reporting allows corrective actions before an incident occurs.

Training should be provided during onboarding, whenever new equipment/procedures are introduced, and reinforced through regular toolbox talks and annual refreshers to keep safety top-of-mind.
